Murray Tinkelman! Don't Miss Him or You'll Regret It!

©Murray Tinkelman, Tinkelman studio

Murray Tinkelman! He's coming to see us on November 4th! The time is 12:30 pm. The place is the "Class of 1947 Room" in the library. This work is all pen and ink. That's right, PEN and INK. His reputation as both an illustrator and educator is legendary. And you'll see why!

Read about a current show here: Murray Tinkelman Rocks it at the Society!

Or check out his studio web page here: Murray Tinkelman's Studio

Well, just Google his name and you'll see what I'm talkin' about. There's plenty more to get excited about. We're lucky he'll join us. Be there!

Sanjay Patel/Pixar/Great Interview w/ Process Shots!

Wow, this guy's good! And he's a great study for those of you working with the current Raab Associates Prize competition artwork (i.e. images for a children's magazine that need to be fresh and hip). When I said, "Look at Charley Harper's work" that wasn't wrong (amazing!)! You'll see that Charley Harper serves as one of Sanjay Patel's major influences.

Treat yourself and look at the work of both of these fellows (complimentary links included, as always).

International Children's Digital Library

The BEST resource for looking at children's picture books on the web. Period. Great search features and you can view entire books. Many of them are international. So, get out of your bad mock Japanese anime rut and take in some new ideas!

Click on that link (above) and then click on "Read Books" in the upper left. Search!

Wanna Make An Animation?

Ok, so, I know that NONE of YOU (my students) actually fit this profile, but this is a funny animation from a SUPER-COOL app online that allows you to make animations from text you type in.

This might be just the thing you need to distract you from your work as mid-terms approach. Possibly a good stress buster. I can see all of the animations about ill-prepared profs now...  ;-)

Go to Xtranormal.com and let the fun begin!
